My medical card is about to expire so I'm going in to get a new physical. I take two medications, Lexipro (Antidepressant) and Trazodone (Sleep-Aid). I can get a letter from my doctor stating I am clear to drive a commercial vehicle and have been taking this med combination for the last 6 months. Just want to double check and make sure Trazodone would not disqualify me.
Will Trazodone disqualify me?

This doesn't answer your question, but while trying to find an answer for you, discovered this little tidbit.
"Clinical reports have also described trazodone-associated psychosexual side effects in women, including increased libido, priapism of the clitoris, and spontaneous orgasms."
@123456 is knowledgable about finding answers to these type questions.ExOTR and arrogant steve Thank this. -

Tell your doctor you need it for yourself.
"Drugs approved to treat insomnia can impair your ability to recall new experiences, and may even—cause you to walk, eat, have kinky sex, drive a car while essentially unconscious." -
Wow you guys.
If it isn't it on the list of drugs that drivers shouldn't take, it should be.
The one side effect of the drug is dizziness, confusion and sleepiness and some of these symptoms do not appear in everyone who takes it but can without warning. It is a treatment for depression, not a sleep aid but used as one because of the side effects that are common.
Honestly I was on it because I could not sleep with my pain, I had tried everything and I could not drive if I took it, it screwed with my balance and my thinking. SO I stopped taking it after a week and just went back to some pain meds to cut the pain, then did the best to sleep.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
It's not going to show up on a DOT drug test, so it's none of their business. Don't take it before work, or during work. Trazadone is a weird drug, it's a semi-opioid type of thing that gives you pain relief, makes you feel a little weird, and is meant to be less psychologically addictive than hydrocodone.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Unless he wants to be unemployed.alghazi Thanks this.
