Commercial trucking doesnt care about the miles. Just whether or not you have been in a truck getting experience on a daily basis. Tho I think a person whom does mostly city driving is more preffered over an OTR driver. As the city driver will be numbed out to the manure of city driving

Most insurance companies put it this way:

Minimum two years experience operating the type of equipment used by the insured...

Show up with a clean driving record and you are golden.

Funny thing, the company I'm with is located in flatrock, Mi so we're moving to be closer to the yard. Only thing I'm not liking so far with the company I'm at now is slip seating, and one of the routes they have us cover because that sides drivers like to call in all the time.

If anything is prefer to do dedicated instead of full OTR, but we only have OTR and Local lanes. Since I'm closer to the Detroit metro area there are lots of companies out here to consider if I decide to leave after my contract is up. I even think there is a Meijer DC out here too.
I was talking with my trainer, and he said that if I talk to the the terminal manger I might be able to work something out like that. It would be cool if I could run OTR during warmer months, and then plop back into a local seat during the winter months, but I doubt that would be the case. I'll just wait until the kids born before I make any huge decisions.

I have my hazmat and tanker endorsement from when I had originally got my class B a few months ago.
My old job paid for everything, luckily and I didn't have to have a debt from them, but I do want to get my doubles endorsement since you never know where the wind my blow you.

Thanks for all your advice fellows. I would have tried to reply sooner, but local isn't a joke they run you down here straight to the last minutes on your clock. Wasn't really ready for it to be honest.
