I'll be darned! When did they move Laramie and Sherman to Nebraska?:biggrin_25522::biggrin_25526: (just couldn't resist):biggrin_2552:

If in doubt, s l o w down! There are a lot of factors with wind. When I was with Knight, they lost at least a half dozen trucks in one winter, between Denver and Cheyenne due to wind, and driving to fast for conditions.

I got blown off the road myself here in Utah a few years before retiring. I was driving a single screw, pulling an empty pup. I was only doing 45 MPH because of the gusty wind. It was too fast for conditions. I hit a patch of ice, just as a gust of wind broadsided my truck. Bye Bye!:biggrin_2551: I did regain enough control to hit the barrow ditch relatively straight, and plowed right through it, instead of turning over.

Outside of the injury received when my rectum slammed shut, I wasn't hurt, but it gave me a "preventable" and three days beach time. . .

    No body's fault but mine.:biggrin_2552:

They will have portable signs(sig alerts) that all trucks must use next exit. The CHP officer will be at the end of the ramp and he will send you back in the direction you came from or a lot of guys will park on the shoulder and wait it out. Trucks will be doubled parked everywhere in Castaic, CA when the NB grapevine gets shut down for wind, snow or wildfires.
