I'm parked right now with an empty trailer. Sustained winds of 40 mph with gusts of 50 mph. Feels like a ship at sea. Is this enough wind to push me over if I start driving in this? I planned on hitting the road in a couple of hours, but this wind is supposed to continue for several hours. Give me some advice.

Yes. Its called a blow over. It can literally put your truck on its side. Be careful. I had some hit me yesterday so hard I almost ##### myself. My whole truck went into another lane.

I've been in New Mexico and Texas since 1500 yesterday and we've had gusts up to 60mph . I'm flatbed hauling a load of rock salt so it hasn't been to bad but I've been blown around a lot.

dont play with the wind, especially out west

i remember hearing years ago, 40mph can flip over an empty and 60mph can flip a fully loaded box

i dont know how true it is, i have been thru both and didnt flip, but i guess it also applies to the angle and so forth

If you work for company be sure to send in a Safety QC message letting them know you are in a high wind area.

You're rocking while sitting? Sit it out. Unless you know how to drive in high wind conditions (yes, it can be done but shouldn't be except to get to a safe area to park in my opinion) don't attempt it.

Blow over is considered a preventable....just sayin'.

STAY PUT ! that high of wind with an empty trailer is an accident looking for a place to happen. Send a safety QC and go back to bed. if you can put the back or front of your truck into the wind it will help with the rocking. But do not move until you feel safe and the wind is truly down.
