I agree. I am in Laredo waiting for a trailer to cross with a bobtail and it is rocking the *&^% out of the truck.

You are prob already back on the road so my best opinion is that you drive steady and be prepared to pull the truck back inline (whatever way the wind is coming from) if you suspect that you may be at risk of losing control or of a "blow over" don't use the brake pedal use only the trailer brake (hand piece) this will allow the momentum of the prime mover pull the traile straight and put a bit o down force on the trailer axels keeping them grounded hopefully but if it's that bad stop and wait it oh with the truck facing forward or backward to the wind if possible.

    Hope that helps.

Also, one trick I learned was when the wind is that bad and rocking a stopped truck, go drop the landing gear. It helps to drop the amount of rocking a little bit.

I guess that dumping the air in an airbag trailer would also help. Not sure though maybe making it to to ridgid by dumpin airbags might make It worse with no give at all not sure just a thought.

40 with higher gusts can easily lift some wheels off the ground. Iwas doing 30mph as I was empty and an empty Werner came by me and I saw air under his left tandems, don't know bout him but I know it taught me!

Like some of the other posters stated, if you don't feel its safe then park it. Your license is your "bread and butter" and your life is priceless, don't do anything to risk either, its definitely not worth it! I'm sure safety won't have a problem as long as you let them know your plan. Usually winds tend to subside a bit once nightfall hits. Maybe see how it is around 11-12 tonight. I know for sure that the weather is very bad across just about the whole country so plan ahead and be safe out there....

Wind sometimes picks up at night.
Case in point, WY last night.
