The River Port in Little Rock has a entire facility that makes nothing but turbine blades. 135 feet of joy. There are acres of them by the Arkansas River. They usually go over the Union Pacific Railroad where three flatcars are assigned to each. One to carry and one at each end to protect it from sticking or stabbing stuff along the way. About once a week they ship 10 of them past my home. It's a treat to see these right behind the locomotives as a special move which means the train crew needs to be able to eyeball them right there up front.

Forgot to mention...that is one biiiiiiiiiig freakin nacell!

Doing those big projects takes a long time. Sometimes years. It's an easier form of trucking, because you haul loads with the same dims for months on end, secure them all the same, fuel at the same place and eat at the same place. It's gravy. A regular paycheck will spoil you.

When you have good people around you, it's like a really long camping trip with friends.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't that a Canadian oversize sign?

I used to think they were a waste of land and tax dollars, but the farmers can still
raise crops or pasture cows around them, and it keeps the subdivisions away

I spent 4 years working on wind farm projects before I got my CDL. I was the guy that turned the power on when they were 'done', then stood there scratching my head and working to figure out why things weren't working right. Then I got to fix the problems.

Then the tax credits dried up, and projects started paying less and less.
