Just wondering if anyone has one mounted on a 780 Volvo, and if so how much of the dome needs to be above the top sleeper flairing to get a good signal?.
thanks...

Geez I've been waiting for this subject and no experts in sight. Ugh
is that better than the Vucube?
-
We need an 'in motion antenna' and from what I can find out the Vucube version is no longer available, static version only. So Winegard is the only option.
-
Hmmm.. Wonder why Vucube isn't available? You know, you'd think after all the new technology and all the trucks on the hwy someone would come out with something new and exciting and most of all user friendly and affordable!

I ran an older version for years, but mine was mounted on my mid roof FLD.
Finally bite the dust and we just replaced it with a regular Winegard.
If your roof is fiberglass it should see through that. Just remember not over 13' 6" or you just might clear it off the trk. -
Winegard is not the only option, it's just the cheapest. KVH and King Dome are also available.

Most of the replies didn't address the question but why don't you ask Winegard. My assertion is that unless you live in Canada where the sat is pretty close to the horizon, I would comfortably think that only 50% of the dome needs to be above the fairings to get a good signal. Much of the US as I recall would be around the 50 deg mark give or take so you really don't have to install all of the dome above the roof line. My friend just had one installed on his Pete 579 mid roof and the dome housing was two thirds above the roof line. Looked pretty impressive but was the basic static dish arrangement not in motion. Good luck

I've still not pulled the trigger on this but I am speaking to a winegard tech tomorrow, so will post what he advises. If it doesn't work behind the sleeper then I could mount it above the moonroof on the front. The mounting bracket looks to be pretty versatile and should accommodate the curvature of the sleeper roof. Just picked the mounting kit up off ebay for 1/2 price. Being a dome it shouldn't effect air flow too much. I've seen other domes mounted in that position, so it is possible.
