Had one winter where I stayed in the Dakota's and Iowa, delivering farm equipment to farms for the dealers. I was making a grand a load. Picked up a dozer on a Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska. Had to wait til Sunday (football curfew) hammered out of Nebraska before noon, shot ver to davenport. Dropped that dozer ($1000) and picked up a smaller dozer and returned it to a dealer in Sioux city ($1000). That night shot up to Fargo to pick up at CNH to go back to Nebraska ($1000). Easy money.

Some times everything clicks and you have good days. I've found out that there are quite a few farmers that find out they have to spend money for tax reasons late in the year.

I can honestly say I've not had a slow winter yet. I don't know how or why, but a few years back when things got slow our boss had us trucking right along. And if WE are making money, then HE is making money!

Boss asked if I would like to take a month or two off this winter if we have a good harvest season. I told him I'll gladly spend two months in my fish house.

We are looking at hauling drilling mud to oil rigs in TX this winter if spot freight takes a dive.

Everyone goes to Texas in the winter. The money to be made is running IN/IL/OH/WI/MI in the winter months.

And Minnesota. When everyone migrates below I 40, there's money to be made above 40.
