But we know how the cold weather is, especially fixing stuff in the cold. Every year I’m out here I get a little more wise, learn to dress in layers, cover the ears and neck etc. so this year I decided to take it another step forward.

as far as wrenching on the field...

this glove setup I’m not claiming to be the best but costs about $35 from Academy. $20 for the thin tight fitting insulated glove liners paired with the $14 nitrile grip gloves with extra knuckle protection. Busting knuckles is no fun especially in the cold. So with both of these gloves together, there’s still pretty good dexterity/flexibility to still be able to feel and work. Got a nice $17 pair of insulated Carhartt work gloves too for fueling and tying down freight.

    safe, & profitable trails!

i usually buy those lined :"Jersey Browns" at lowes/home depot for like $3.00 a pair. i had a good pair of "imitation leather" for fueling.

i never did much in the way of repairs, Penske was only an 800 number away, or actually, 1/2 mile from my former employer.

about the only things i'd "work on" would be changing a headlight bulb, or tail light, up until the time we got all new trailers with those LED's riveted into the trailer.

but i could see a very good pair of gloves for the winter for flat bedders, that are constantly working outside in the winter.

Ten4. Yea it’s tough especially if your wrenchin’ working with bolts/nuts/hardware/Clevis pins etc. because those big thick insulated gloves or leather gloves are nice, but almost does not a thing for wrenchin’ because they’re to bulky. Then the alternative is usually thin gloves that don’t do much for the fingers.

I usually wear a thin pair of gloves and rotate insulated gloves between my hands and the heater.

Just clarify, I don’t wish to be misleading. The glove setup I mentioned was more for working on the truck fixing stuff in the cold. So the fingers can move, still be flexible and be halfway warm.

these in the picture are the ones I use year round except in the winter. Usually get about 2-3 months out then give or take.

Nothing like chaining up in below zero with a pair of soaking wet gloves.

Gotcha. Yea the only thing I dislike about the nitrate gloves for all purpose is trying to roll straps back up on the strap winder and getting stuck to everything lol- I see your point though!
