I've been kicking around the idea of auto chains. Triples aren't really an option on a carhauler, and Vail City Police have decided they can do CSP's job on chain enforcement, so unless I want to run iron on wet roads, I'm probably going to have to spend the $$$.

I could see how chaining up one of those would be a real chore.

I tend to avoid going up in active snow events, but yeah, there's been times I spent as much time knocking packed slush out of the way as I did chaining.

Anybody figure that guy is empty?

I've seen that a lot with the tankers headed back north on 191 between Helper and Duchesne. They'll spin out there on the south side of the pass.

I went back and watched closer. Didn't see the trailer rocking much while he was fighting for traction, and usually those light weight wagons are moving all over the place when empty.

They’re pretty stiff when empty and will rock side to side on the 5th wheel if there isn’t weight to flex the suspension.

I used to pull 10,000 gallon chemical tankers that were around 10k# empty. You'd think it was a block of Styrofoam back there, the way they moved around on rough roads when empty.
