What does everyone use while on the road? I'm iffy on using public hot spots on my laptop, and I was thinking of getting a wireless card or checking out "Clear" internet services.

check out http://www.millenicom.com/ i am thinking of switching to them for internet, i have verizon with a limit of 4 gigs of data, this above company charges like 69.99.
3G/4G Unlimited Plan
$69.99 per month
The 3G/4G unlimited broadband account is a no contract service that allows for nationwide coverage without a specific cap on the amount of data transfer used for $69.99/month. It requires the purchase of the mobile broadband device for $99.99 and you do not need to return the device when you close your account. There is a one-time set up fee of $49.99 and a $15.00 shipping fee to get the account started.
*Fine Print: The unlimited service is for personal and family use and is not to be used for commercial purposes or as a public WiFi or broadcast to multi-dwelling units or any other extraordinary circumstance. Usage over 50 gigabytes in one month will alert our investigative team.

You can ofcourse root your phone and use your data package for free. -
I was using Verizon Wireless service about 3 years ago. The cost per month then $58, but might be less now. Very reliable and fast. Never had a problem. Small unit plugs into USB port.

It is actually the same price but its not unlimited, your data will be capped, meaning that if you go over a certain amount of data your speeds will be slowed down tremendously or you will have to pay extra charges per MB or GB.
Clear will slow you down and Verizon will charge you extra, the limit is usually from 2 to 5 gigs....

$29/month unlimited data on my jailbroken iPhone - use it as wifi hotspot - laptop, printer and tv use the wifi.
I was grandfathered in from couple years ago... I use about 15-18gb/month.
If you do a simple search here, this topic has been covered many times...MNdriver Thanks this. -

Yea... It's total bs now. Not planning to leave anytime soon... Hopefully iPhone 5 will be jailbroken soon after it comes out - already checked and they said I would have unlimited 4g data
Although 3G is just fine for Netflix. -
I really doubt that one, the only company that still offers true unlimited data is sprint, I strongly doubt Verizon and at&t will have unlimited data with the iPhone, of course I'm no expert so I could be wrong...
