Ever heard of a teaming company that allows the truck to be down 6 hours a day or that is home every weekend?

The major issue we had with teaming is getting enough sleep to run. We would run our ##### off for 5-6 days straight on a few hours sleep then by day 7 we were just worn out.

I'd like to find a teaming company that gave us down time because sleeping on a moving truck is not a guarantee. We are not looking to make 8000 miles a week 4000-5000 is more then enough for us. It doesn't help that we are both different with sleep. my husband is great with 4-6 hours sleep, I need at LEAST 6-8.

Such a hassle getting them to slow down, we either had 24/7 loads or we had no loads. I'd like something in between lol.

Are there that many companies looking for teams anymore? You'd think with the economy the way it is teams wouldn't be needed.

Check with expedite companies driving for a fleet owner . Teams will sit a day or more after a run . You run less miles but the rates are higher .

if you dont want to roll 5000 plus a week you need to get out of teaming!! thats what teaming is all about 24h a day. they dont hire teams tp roll 4000 a week hell a solo could do that i guess you could find another trash company that will sit you alot but you all will only make what a solo driver makes (700 to 1000wk) team are out ther to make money not get there beauty sleep:biggrin_25518:

Hey stan, you can run 24/7 if you want but I'd rather be safe then rich. Driving on 2 hours sleep is not safe. Especially when you are on day 5 with 6-9 hours sleep total for the entire 5 day period. Sorry. Think what you will we aren't here to please you.

As for hiring teams, I'd think if a company was reducing work force, they'd reduce solo's first, after all solos have to be down 10 hours a day right? The teams don't, so, a team truck is more 'efficient' in terms of money making for the company. Lets say you were owner operating. You could pull what 3000 solo? 1.25 a mile, you'd make 3750, take off fuel, payment so on, lets say you bring home 1350 after all that. You run team you run 5000 miles you bring home nearly 3k. The more miles you run on a truck the less your truck cost per mile on the payment/insurance and so on. The only figure that will not change is the fuel cost. So... in a world where truck fleet # need to be reduced, teams are actually more likely to be sought then solo.

We can run fine stanny boy just not for 3 weeks at a time nonstop like team werner was pushing us to do back to back to back to back 50 mph non stop barely enough time to fuel don't think about eating runs. There have been companies I have talked to that will run us like I stated above, but the two I talked to one has a pretty crappy record, and the other is a dallas to chicago and back run 3x a week. Not everyone can sleep soundly when the truck is moving, that doesn't mean a husband/wife team can't still be useful, that still gives 18 hours a day that truck can roll. Thats still 1000 miles a day. Technically I could still do 6000 miles a week or more 18 hours a day rolling at 50 eh?

But I think the obvious answer for me is to just buy a #### truck everything seems to point to that outcome. I actually was considering Panther at one point, expedited seems right up our ally. We can run hard as hell just not every single day for three weeks. Sorry. Anyone that can do that and not kill someone, more power to you. I for one will not take the chance of driving tired and killing someone. I couldn't live with myself if I took someone's life because I was too proud to admit that I cannot run 24/7 and to make a dime. We don't team to be rich we team because we want to be with each other. Money was just a side thought. I could just be a rider, but come on, thats silly, 2 people with a CDL and one's just a rider? That would be the biggest waste...

o well !!!if you all are not willing to run 1000 to 1400 miles a day 5 to 6 days a week i dont think a company worth working for will even look a you all. i know the company i work for would file thirteen your app. for wanting somthing like that. even owning your own truck if you lease on with a company as a team wont let that happen

That's okay, at least I can type. I am not sure what a 'file thirteen' is but last I checked when you own a truck, and you are leased on you get your choice from several loads, or if you are with Landstar, you get your choice of whichever load someone else hasn't already grabbed. Which means, obviously, I could pick a load that say, picks up at 1 PM goes 1200 miles and delivers at 7 PM the next day which hmmm would give me time to stop and sleep. So while you seem to be a bit short sighted, there is a much bigger world of trucking that is available then you are apparently aware of. I thank you for your rather bias opinion on my question, however, it doesn't appear you have any additional helpful information. As such I will kindly note your 'teams go 24/7 and if you don't want to you aren't a real team so no one will hire you and you shouldn't team' advise and continue to take advice from other persons thanks!

you really need to get some more years under your belt you wont last six months in the owner op world .1200 miles in 30 hours a solo could almost do that. tbe people out there wanting to make money will keep you sitting and all that will be left on the load board will be trash runs that dont pay anything (file thirteen means- look :biggrin_25512: trash can)

Anyone I know who's expediting isn't home much at all and the ones who are successful are rarely home. FEDEX might be right up your alley. Their fleet averages for O/O teams are 125,000 miles a year and $200,000 in revenue according to the package they sent me. Probably down now but still not bad. As someone said, logic would dictate a strong demand for teams, especially husband/wife teams.

If you want to buy a tractor there is always a need for expedite tractors . They have almost no competition within the fleet compared to straight trucks . You could also check FedEx Ground . It's a little more boring , dedicated runs but fleet owners hire teams there too or if you have your own truck you could eventually build your own fleet .
