Hmm every now and again, you'll meet someone with some sense
However rare it may be
Bad part you're most likely not gonna be working for them
And look out for yourself and don't quit find something else first, and if u feel they are
Looking to get rid of you, fill out apps and get out first
Its hard getting back in, once your out. Cause
They are gonna slam u, good luck
With all the bad, talk about the GOOD

All the posts about companies only caring about #1 are off. Any business manager knows that in order to keep #1 in business, you need to keep both #2 happy and your customers happy. Every owner knows that if the trucks in his/her fleet aren't rolling, they aren't making money.
OTR is a catch-22. Time and time again, people complain and complain about the bigger companies. What they didn't realize when stepping into driving OTR was that it's not just a job. It's not just a career. It's a life style. Being able to drive a truck doesn't make you a truck driver. -
....or they like to blame the company for an industry wide problem.
THBatMan8 Thanks this. -
The good stuff starts when the pain ends. Like losing your rental property because you were so busy driving you couldn't clean it up fix it and rent it out again. (The good side is that you still got your own house).
Or like hitting a deer and destroying your truck. Two weeks in a hotel with no income. The good news is that the bar's open seven days a week.
Or like losing a clutch and spending $2,400.00 you didn't have in the first place to replace it. The good news is that it died down the street from the shop.
Or like having the Safety Dept charge you with an accident. The good news is that you never had one, the guy that slipped into your tractor after you slipped out of it found the dent you never noticed.
Or like having another close call in traffic. The good news is that the angry soccer Mom called your company to compliment your aggressive, angry driving skills.
Or like doing Weekend Dispatch a favor, that was a tough job well done. The good news is that Monday morning- after you found out you were NOT supposed to do that, they let you keep your job (after calling you a liar).
Or like...Last edited: Sep 21, 2011

Its ALL good...if this is the life YOU CHOOSE to live.
Ain't FREEDOM grand...otherwise I might be stuck in some #### factory somewhere...now THAT would be bad. -
There is no perfect job. Some individuals are more suited for a particular job than another. There is always BAD for people to find. You have to actually work at finding the positives sometimes. I bellyache about some things in trucking like everyone else, but when it comes to actually making a list of the bad and a list of the good things, the good side is longer than the bad side. At least for me. Guess that is why I have stayed with it for 3 decades, thru all the goofy changes. Like most anything in life, you get out of something what you invest in it. There are some that would complain even if given a brand new truck, someone else to drive it for them, a well endowed college cheerleader to play with, and paid $100 an hour. Then there are those that try to find the positive in everything they encounter. Which one, do you think, has a better outlook on life in general?
