I liked the idea of connecting bungee cords to your airhorn is you're worried about someone getting in your cab while you're sleeping...That will draw more than enough attention...
With all the danger out there do you guys keep anything to protect yourselves?

Are you aware that a great many trucks no longer have a cord for the "air horn"?Injun, mje and outerspacehillbilly Thank this. -
If you are that concerned about the door being opened, you might consider getting ratchet straps and putting one between the doors and preventing them to open easily.mje, Scrumdog and Texas-Nana Thank this.

And I think I will invest in some wasp spray. Excellent idea, Ms. Nana.
(That way, I might not have to break another arm. The effort is more than I feel like considering at this juncture.) -
Someone here on the forum suggested it to me. I get the best ideas here. It's legal, easy to find and I even used it the other day on some bees.
mje Thanks this. -
Since I haul 30,000 pounds of milk in a tanker, I do not think anyone would want it in bulk....there is no black market for milk, that I know of

I also haul granular fertilizer, which is in very short supply at this time, but again, who is going to buy a stolen load of fertilizer???
I also haul $5,000 worth of corn in a load, but the tractor and trailer are worth way more than the cargo...the trailer alone is about $35,000 in value.
Like other guys have said, the amatuer thieves tend to stay away from trucks, and if the pros are taking your rig, you want to give it to them.Texas-Nana and mje Thank this. -

It was heartbreaking for me.
And they're not really airhorns either. *sobs*
mje Thanks this. -
I run flatbed, aluminum trailer. Kinda hard to keep what's on an open trailer deck safe and secure, unless you are parked in a secured yard, which mine is. Thieves want the trailer for scrap. When the price of aluminum was up, the company was losing trailers every month. Got a report that someone had stolen a load of aluminum bars. A thief hit the jackpot on that load.
If some one wants my truck, they can have it. It's not worth my life to protect a company truck. Just let me grab my billfold and cellphone.Texas-Nana, mje and Wanna drive Thank this. -
I was told...probably incorrectly, that even with a permit, you could not have one with you in a commercial vehicle.
I have a ccw in ohio.mje Thanks this.
