It makes me sad when people stop following a thread. Where will I read my daily dose of one sided hatred ?

I just want to know why you (or anyone) leasing causes some people to be so upset? It's your money, your life, your risk. If someone doesn't agree with being an L/P, fine. Feel free to say something like, "I wouldn't do that." "That doesn't make sense to me, but more power to you." There's enough naysayers on these posts, past and present. We don't need anymore. It's ALL HERE TO READ AT OUR LEISURE! Enough!

Okay, thanks! Back to your regularly scheduled programming. :)

Ask 5 truckers the same question and you'll get 5 different answers. And they will all be the best answer

  8. People get so caught up in the idea that their way of doing things is the absolute only way to do things. One of my favorite quotes is by Duke Kahanamoku. Someone told him, "you're wasting your time doing that." Duke's response, "It's my time." Be blessed everyone and remember "IT'S YOUR TIME!" Nothing changed, I deliver in Puyallup, WA Thursday morning and then JCT is going to try and get me back to Oklahoma.

The ones I don't get are those that just keep trading in and doing the another lease, over and over.[/QUOTE]

It's because in today's tax code there is much more incentive to lease. If you purchase outright or traditionally finance a vehicle you can only deduct depreciation of said vehicle over a few years. If you lease you can write off your entire lease payments as a business expense. You will have diminished your taxable income dramatically by leasing as opposed to purchasing.

Still dont get it. The tax explanation does not compute. The high lease cost more than outweighs any tax advantages. My truck payment is almost $1300 a month lower than what I was paying to lease. I'm certainly not paying $1300 a month more in taxes.

It's warranty ... maintenance cost with a warranty is about $.06 pm ... at 500,000 miles it's going to jump to about $.14 pm ... with an in frame looming around 1million.

Also depends on who your leasing with and their incentives. At Swift, over mileage charges rollover from lease to lease as credits ... if you train, you could accumulate enough credits to actually come close to paying for a new truck out right after 3 leases.
