Raise the box up to the top of the mounts on the trailer frame. It will stop the bouncing. You don't need to mount the box to the frame but the angle iron is is not strong enough to hold the energy from the box movement when it is past the trailer frame like it is. There is no way to really absorb the energy unless you doctor up more bracing. When it is mounted higher, the angle iron up against the frame with the box mounted will take the energy away from the box.

if you remake the mounts, use 3 inch wide angle iron with a 3 inch wide flat piece.

Bottom line, you have too much leverage and not thick enough bracket material. Its going to flex.

Personally, Id have used 3"x1/2" angle.

I want to, but I'm too far away from power to fit the steel on the trailer. If I pull the brackets and weld them together with some angle, I've got a 99.99% chance of none of my bolt holes lining up when I'm done. Sad thing is, I have a 30kw Cat generator I could pull over there, but it needs load banked so bad it barely runs.

Yep, that's literally the problem. Too much leverage, and brackets that aren't substantial enough. So I'm going to shorten the brackets so the toolbox hugs the frame higher as @Ridgeline suggested. Instead of rebuilding the brackets from scratch, I'm going to get rid of the flat strap, and weld in a solid triangular piece of 1/8" plate to both sides. I also bought some longer bolts, and I'll pad the inside of the frame with some plate.

I'll post pics when I'm done. Thanks for the replies.

Welp, solid as a muhfuggah now. Moved it up two inches. Best I could do and still slide winches. 20201102_115250.jpg 20201102_142059.jpg 20201102_154453.jpg 20201102_154506.jpg

I'm seriously considering that! I even have a mudflap.
