Leasing a new truck with an option to purchase (or walk away from) would seem to be a way to mitigate some of the risk. IMO, any amount of extended idling is bad for an emissions engine.
Wonder how far newbies have made it?

The way I operate a lease is not something I would consider. I've been doing this with a payed for truck long enough,I would much rather put that lease payment in my bank account.

That's why I will not buy a emissions truck. For me the best rates are within 700 miles of home. We have some good paying ltl going to Cali. But it would take 2.5 years of trouble free running for me to justify buying a new truck. I run 2500 miles or less a week, home every other day. Just can't see getting into a new truck, just to say I drive a new truck. My old girls not pretty but the money she makes is just as green as any new truck.
ironpony, Lepton1 and barnmonkey Thank this. -

To the saddest of all, contract port work.
The TTR cheerleaders will be along to dispel my post.
