    Greetings, all,

A question for you second (or third or fourth) career truckers: what was your previous job/career? I've heard that people from all walks of life are drawn to the trucking business and I'm just curious if this is true, especially in this economy. Last night the local evening news aired a story about a trucker career fair at an area driving school. One of the attendees was an out-of-work custom home builder looking to get into trucking.

I've been looking into that possibility myself and have spent a lot of time reading this forum and considering all the good information you share here, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly! I'm still kicking it around, especially since my employment ends in November and right now there's nothing else in sight.

Trained as a pastor (did actually serve a year as a youth pastor), some management, a bit of IT, and a lot of whatever I could find.

I spent 25 years in high tech electronics repair. Worked on everything from miitary avionics to medical and communications. Picked up a Bachelor and a Masters degree in Business along the way.

Had my own business for the last 10 years before I burned out. Swore I would never have a business again.

Just got my own authority last week, and have been running as a lease operator for the last 7 years. So much for not having my own business again!
