Just hope you never lose that feeling, no matter how long you are behind the wheel.
    At least to some extent.

Because that is when experienced drivers make mistakes.

Han Solo said it best when Luke took out his first ship...
    Don't get ####y, kid!

Thanks, Moosetek13! Guess Swift is worth checking out. That's pretty interesting about getting to choose the loads you take. I always thought that the company says "take this to there," and that's it. So much to learn lol.

Off-topic, but how common are crashes? How do you all stay safe and avoid accidents? Sorry if this is a bad topic to discuss.

Also just keep in mind that you aren't always going to be parking surrounded by storm troopers. Most of the time you aren't at all.

Reality check! Reading that was like cold water on the face (in a good way tho). Nothing would be worse than making a mistake that hurt the cargo, truck, or someone else.

    Thanks, Moosetek13!!

One less thing to worry about. Well, I guess that depends if you're for or against the Empire.

I probably avoided a crash yesterday.

I was due to deliver in Eden Prairie, Mn at the Costco at 1200 yesterday.
At 1100 I stopped for fuel in Hudson, WI, and I checked the weather app radar because the weather radio said it was already snowing in Eden Prairie.
40 miles from my destination, and it wasn't snowing in Hudson yet.
But the radar showed that it would soon be getting much worse, so I shut it down there.
I sent a mac 22 to say I would be late and delivering the load today at 0900.

I checked the MN DOT website during the afternoon and there were dozens of crashes, vehicles spun out and many trucks jackknifing. It got bad, very fast.

I try to stay safe by anticipating what I might be going into, and shutting down before I get into it.

I have chained up twice for snow, both times during my training because my mentor was gung ho.
So in nearly 10 years out here - no chaining because I won't drive in those unsafe conditions.
And never has there been anything negative from Swift. They like my safety score.
A bit late but safe is always better than never and dead.

By the way, here is the best place to check conditions in any state.
    One stop for all...
