When you’re single it’s a great opportunity to get your foot in the and get your training and first 6 months of experience out of the way when nothing is holding you back, and having a CDL as back up when jobs are down and the economy is in the tank is a nice safety cushion to have. Schooling and your first 6 months will be stressful getting use to the big rigs and the inner city, but after you first year of different seasons it’ll start to get easier and you’ll get more confident. Also after 3 months on the road you’ll have more opportunity for local jobs or trying your hand at owner op. Also having a good diet is key to feeling good and being happy over the road.

I drive for Schneider National and so for I’m real impressed with the local routes they offer. It’s the easiest gig I’ve ever had on the road.

Thanks, Brentondoncouse! Schneider seems to be one of those companies that people either like or loathe. Glad they're treating you well.

This whole virus thing and people losing jobs made me reconsider the kind of job I want. I agree that it's a good plan to have some type of technical training when/if the economy goes south.

Diet and exercise are big things for me. I want to make sure I keep in good shape while on the road. How do you manage to eat well when you're on a route?

All trucking companies are like that. It all depends on the dispatcher you get stuck with. First thing is to get a mini fridge in the truck, pack veggies fruit and protein. The less carbs the better. I had a mini George foreman in the truck to cook the protein.

Ok. Guess I'll just have to roll the dice with that one, then.

Nice set up! Those will go on my to-get list. Much better than fast food/diners.

It is with some things, but y'all like to talk too much about things that don't make much sense to us to talk about.

From what I have experienced with female drivers is that they are more careful and more prone to being safer drivers.
Males have a more aggressive approach to things, in general. Aggressive can be deadly with a big truck.
