Yeah, Downey did do a lot of fighting. Probably one of the reasons why the movie was so popular. I look forward to that aspect of Brett's version, especially as you said they use the styles specific to that time.

Including the picture is a nice touch by the director. You know movies nowadays. Always need to throw in a romantic angle as if the plot weren't intriguing enough.

Although maybe for that time period, alluding to a man's attraction to a woman's mental fortitude is implying there was also a physical attraction. They just couldn't come right out and say it. I could be wrong and Holmes did just appreciate her for her mind, which is also nice.

 

I think that's right, that he only called her "The Woman." I wonder why he didn't call her by her name if he held her in such high regard. What's the meaning of "The Woman" label?

 

Maybe by using that label he is shunning other women. She is figuratively "The Woman" as in no others exist? He is recognizing her (as you said) his other half, his "Yin."

 

And sometimes that's all that's needed.
