Thanks. I needed it for a while, and maybe I still do, but I really want to try and earn my own way again.

Same here, that's why I said delivery works for me. I have a rain man like ability to schedule my whole day in my head before I leave the building and break down time to the minute to see where I need to hustle up and where I can take my break to get done the fastest.

He' wasn't really suggesting you become and owner-operator. He was making fun of sooooo many posts that read like yours but then conclude by asking about becoming an owner-operator since the ads say they make more than company driver. Most of those asking about O/O are as prepared to become O/O as they are to become Navy SEAL/samurai warriors, they just don't realize it until they go bankrupt.

As for drug test, minimum for urine sample is 30 days clean for light users. Some companies, not many, also take a hair sample. No hair, no job. Those follicle tests MIGHT detect heavy users up to 6 months after last use. Some of the hair tests will collect hair from all over the body or will need a certain amount of hair so once again, no hair no job.

Driving trucks means YOUR schedule is in the hands of dozens of other people, all of who couldn't care less if it takes them 5 minutes or 5 hours to do their part. And when you are late because of their delay, YOU are late? Why are YOU late, don't you understand the importance of being on time?

Head hair must be longer than 1.5 inches or they take body hair, which grows slower.

People with shoulder length hair have abstained for a year and passed. Ymmv of course.

Not at all my schedule is under my control other then let's say and accident that jams traffic up or other orad closures. I don't do receiver delays, I'm not a otr slave to the receiver and dispatch, it's a beautiful thing. Don't wanna take it....no problem...I'll take it back lol

My longest OTR delay in vans was 24 hours waiting for the last Detroit engine to pass QA before heading back to Peterbilt. One customer I go to in CA routinely takes 1-2 DAYS to unload a trailer that every other customer can unload in 1-2 HOURS. Look for the union label.

Until you realize you are being paid over $20/hr for them to fix their little problem and light this candle. It's about a $2k week for 1 trip plus I get a paid 34 hour reset on my way back in my favorite town with good pubs and restaurants. I'd rather watch satellite TV for 2 days, on the clock, than fight my way across the Carolinas or though Cincy or Atlanta.
