I am really wondering if this is something that I should consider. I really like driving for Dutch Maid, but I am pretty far put from their typical running lanes (being in DFW). Wife and I have discussed relocating to southeastern Michigan at some point, but in the meantime, OTR that is down in TX quite a bit sounds tasty. I was close to pulling the trigger in switching to McFarland, but wife and I decided to stay with Dutch Maid for the time being. The grass isn't always greener. Have to keep telling myself this. Dutch Maid treats me pretty #### well. I do wish they had longer runs more consistently. Sometimes I feel like a shuttle driver. Ok, sorry about the rambling. Sitting at the TA in Elkton, MD waiting to have trailer tire replaced. I have a load that I am supposed to pick up at ES3 in York, PA to drop at Giant Eagle in Bedford Heights today at 12:30. Another 4-5 hour wait to have tire fixed. I don't think I am going to make it. Anyway, bored and that is why I am rambling.

@bryan21384 I think flatbed does run West. I know I see a lot of the flatbed guys in the lanes that I normally run. The planner on the Conestoga side told me it would be even easier on me because of my height. I'm 6'5" so I might not have to climb on the loads near as much to put edge protectors on.
@CaliRaised. Their main customer base is in TX, AR, LA, and OK. So everything is pretty much out and back. I frequently get loads from that area to PA, and then something coming right back. Most of the time I have at least 1 1,000 plus mile load per week. The main con on this is Woodfield is about 50/50 live load/unload. Sometimes there's some waiting at customers involved. Never had to wait for a load tho, if that means anything. Almost everything is heavy, too

Well, I bit the bullet. Picked up my first Conestoga load today. Lumber out of El Dorado. It was a flat 100 degrees today, and I ain't used to it lol. The actual work wasn't that bad, and not having to roll tarps helped a lot. My OCD kicked in while strapping. Load called for 8 straps....I threw 10, for the simple reason of "it looked more symmetrical." I don't think anybody would roll an eye for over-securement. Did I mention, it was hot? The day wasn't without it share of problems tho. For starters, whoever rolled the straps up, put the hook on the inside. I never throw my hooks....been told all my life that's a no-no. So, I had to unroll every strap I was gonna use, and roll em back up "right." Gotta invest in a strap roller. Then, the load grossed at 78,000, but their scale didn't give axle weights, and they would allow to "get my own." Got to a CAT scale, and had to slide everything on the truck....our trailers have the sliding rear axle. Finally got it legal, and headed for home....I was supposed to be home Monday. Nobody's fault. Things just don't work out sometimes. So, yea, gonna try this Conestoga thing out, and see how it goes

Lol I loved hauling coils when I hauled flatbed. Coils are easy, especially if loaded suicide
