I received a call from a former student of mine at May this morning. He asked me if it was the "norm" to scrape your trailer a "little" when backing in tight spots sometimes. My response was no, not if you get and and look. He proceeded to tell me he "scraped" another trailer while backing into a spot at a truck stop. Someone saw him do it. Evidently, he thought it wasn't a big deal and drove away. May safety called him and said someone called and reported it, hit & run, leaving the scene of the accident!
What do you think happened to him?

That's right, they fired him! Unfortunately, that's on his DAC now and it will be very difficult to get on with anyone else now. Not impossible, but very difficult.
-
WOW you can train someone properly but can't teach someone COMMON SENSE!!!!!
-
Yep no shame in getting out and making that short walk to be sure.
-
Like every other trainer, I went over accident reporting procedures and policies at May. Yet...
-
Can't believe he thought he could just leave like no one saw him. Glad it wasn't my trailer or truck. You can't teach honesty ..
-
Integrity.....
You either have it, or you don't.... -
You can hit my container all you want. just dont dent it more than 6in or put a hole in it.
-
Last thing I want to do is scrape my trailer.
My boss would be PISSED to high heaven and I would NEVER hear the end of it till the day I die....
Course, that's what sucks about being your own boss too...LOL -
Just shortly after having my yr and receiving my safe driver jacket I scraped my bumper. Everyone told me I could say someone backed into me at a truck stop and say it was like that when I got out of the shower.but I was raised right and have both honesty and integrity. I felt like crap.no one saw me do it but it was the right thing to do to report it
