Just a rant....
Marks really pisses me off with their boot policy.
Bought a pair of boots in March, and last week the sole separated from the boot.
I know they have 100 day return policy, but I figure a pair of boots should last longer than 6-7 months.
Winter is among us, so I ended up choosing a set of Baffin ice bear boots. Managed to talk the store manager into giving me 20% off them.
If normal boots from marks are only good for 6 months, I might as well buy boots from wal mart and save myself from money. I don't think marks will get any more money from me for boots.

WoW My boots last at the least 2 years or more, but then again I have 6 pairs and I rotate them through out the week. And I'm a Flatbedder lots of steel banging. 5 of the 6 are reg. steel toed boots and the other one is a pair of steel toed low cut leather tenis shoe type I use when driving and load checks. And yes the walmart brand is a good work boot as long as you buy the ones that the leather is sewed onto the sole not glued. Fuels can eat the glue and cause seperation.

Yea I have a couple pairs of Walmart boots. They last me about 6 months but there like 80 bucks.

my marks boots ~$140 are almost 2yrs old, gone thru 4 sets of laces, boots are fine though.
bought another pair of the same ones after 1 yr in case theyre not around when its time for new boots -
I've been very unhappy with Marks line of Dakota and WorkPro the past few years ... I've had the sole separate on CSA work shoes and boots of different styles. In all three cases it happened under the 90 day mark, so I did a straight exchange.
As per above - try to stay away from glue or silicone attached soles .. they suck. If contaminents don't get 'em, simple flexing (like laddering) will. Sewn on soles are the best.
Of course nothing beats fresh Sole from the Atlantic .......

My boots were sewn on sole.
The manager claimed wear and tear on them due to getting wet, and drying and the thread becoming brittle. Said that I should have used mink oil on them.
I basically called BS on that because I know guys at work that don't use mink oil and their boots are fine. -
Yeah, that is a load of crap because Marks (if that's who you're talking about) doesn't sell REAL mink oil (at least around here) anymore. They sell this 1/2 synthetic 1/2 bees wax stuff, which works OK I guess, but I still buy real mink oil and goose grease ..... and either way, it shouldn't/doesn't affect the boot warranty anyway.

I've used boots from Marks for many years. My current pair from them is an external meta tarsal and other then a set or two of laces, they're holding up quite well. When I'm not in my truck driving, I'm in the shop grinding, welding and using torches and they've held up quite well. Maybe you just had a lemon pair.

Quit buying that offshore crap and buy good quality Canadian made work boots. You won't find them @ Mark's the Yoga Pant Store. http://www.stcfootwear.com/

I agree STC boots are made in canada and last a long time, sold at TSC stores
