Took a landing gear handle to the mouth a couple weeks ago when it was sticking and jumped off the gear when I leaned into it and lost my grip. Bam in the mouth. Broke one of my upper front teeth into 3 pieces. The base of the tooth is still present but still getting pain when I compress food. Hoping I can save the tooth and get it fixed somehow. Anyone know how this process goes? I reported it same afternoon as it occurred. Had to wait for my mouth tissue to start healing before dealing with the tooth. I'd like to get the repairs done by my local dentist but I don't know how cooperative my company is gonna be on this whole deal. I am guessing xrays and a general evaluation by a dentist is the first step after getting authorization from my company to proceed.

As long as you reported it, straight away, you should be fine.
Did you fill out an accident / injury report? If not, you should have.
Did you send a message on the Qualcom (or whatever)?
Essentially, do you have proof that you reported it?

If so, just hook up with your safety and / or HR person and you shouldn't have a problem.
If not, hopefully whoever you told will back you up. If not, good luck......

When you reported it they should have seen you needed medical care. They should of sent you to the emergency room and contacted their workers comp insurance provider. That's how it's suppose to work.

But some companies will play games and not want to file. They get reduced premiums with a good record.

Tell your company what you told us. That you have to see a dentist.

If they give you a hard time, you go to the dentist/doctor on your own and contact your states workers comp board. They will threaten your company with a hefty fine to file a claim and the insurance company to take care of you.

Their tone will change real quick and you are protected from retaliation at that point.

I had an old trailer do the same thing to me but the handle was like a spring winding up and not going anywhere. I slipped and it hit me a dozen times in the nose as it spun. Just like a cartoon. :biggrin_25520: I saw stars. I saw my boss flipping out and then realized my face was all bloody. I never did go to the doctors on that one. I should of, my nose is a little crooked now, lol.

That old trailer taught me a lesson.
