So Con-Way ain't gonna happen! Was goin great, wicked stoked, lookin forward, blah blah...Then 'work history' got me! Seems the biggest problem was it *looked* like I didn't have stable work for the past few years. But, I've been a seasonal worker between 3 whitewater outfitters over a 14 year period. Ten years at one company, three at another, and one at the last. And two jobs after the last Outfitter, then CDL school. All the while, workin six years full-time year-round with my dad's company.
I think it's the way the seasonal work shows as far as dates go. Not drawing pay from October to April, having to technically apply again each year, I listed those as periods of unemployment, and that's what screwed me.
My question is this: can I 'legitimately' list those jobs in terms of the years total I worked there?
Like Company 'A': 1997-2007, Company 'B': 2008-2010, Company 'C': 2010?
And my dad's company from 2003-2009, behind all of the above.
Or, will that screw me?
I was there (at the companies) every Spring til Fall, and just had a REALLY long weekend, every year, from Halloween to April Fool's Day!![]()
'Work history' got me, need some input/advice...

I have the same thing going on not outfitting but landscaping seasonal unemployment with snow removal {Snark} we have had 10 inches and havent worked yet} I think most companys want you to list your unemployment because you were getting paid. It stinks I know heck I have not even had to apply again when April 1st comes around its when is work gonna start

The thing that really sucks, and is taking a lot of getting used to, is the inability to have multiple interviews at places. Like, being able to have a 'for real' interview with three companies within a couple days, or even same day. This whole 'orientation/interview/training 1,000 miles away' thing is pretty different for me. I understand it's where the companies are, but, it's still weird for me. I like to have irons in the fire, not smoldering coals... -
sorry to hear about what happened foust, don't let it get you down at all.. if you are doing phone interviews just lay everything out on the plate for them leave no stone unturned, there is a high demand for drivers right now , and there is a lid for every pot..
you will be fine, most importantly be assumptive with the person you are interviewing with, best of luck in that truck..Foust Thanks this. -
Yep, just gotta keep on keepin on! I figure the whole thing is like a big lock and I'm just gonna have to figure out the right "information combination" to open it, and when I do, it's just hit it runnin!

Get them on the phone and try and work your way up the food chain. You are just falling through their cracks, and maybe you can find someone that hasn't had their corporate lobotomy yet. Remember that all carriers are required by FMCSA to verify your employment history, supposedly to ensure that your driving record and criminal background don't exclude you from CDL driving. They have to keep proof of inquiries into your records in their driver qualification files.
