Work history?

I don't mean to sound mean. But how do you get to be 26 without ever working?

Aside from that, you WILL have to produce some evidence of what you were doing during that time.

 

It's going to be difficult at best. But companies do require that you provide them with some background. And, you'll have to produce it.

You might get by with a small company who is willing to forego that issue, just check around.

I had a blank year (self employed) due to a theft in our home. It seems the crooks were interested in my financial statements and tax returns

It almost took an act of God for me to get past that issue.

For those of you who have NOT dealt with the IRS regarding copies of your returns.... It can take almost 90 days to get a copy from the IRS.

 

Just listing your jobs is enough. Be advised, most companies will call and confirm each listing. If a business is closed, they may ask for a W-2.

A tip for you: They want to fill in the blanks, that's all. You can put anything in those blanks IE attended school, in jail, out of the country, unemployed, caring for an elderly parent for an extended period.

You just have to be able to provide them with some kind of proof as to what you were doing.

And of course, some things can't be proven. It's a pain, but that's how it is.

I've even seen guys bring in 3 years of FAKE tax returns, claiming to have been self employed. Not a good idea, but it worked.

 

You have to start somewhere, no good company is going to
trust you with a Tractor trailer full of freight without a history.
So first you get a lousy job in the industry to get a reference.
Ideas include:

Dock worker at an LTL job. (Fed ex freight, UPS Freight)
Do it a few months, Terminel manager likes your work ethic
and lets you start deliver.

Package handler at UPS or Fed Ex. (hard back breaking work)
But prove yourself and you can be a delivery driver.

Farm hand. Many Farmers need workers and have tractor trailers
so you can get a reference.


Or if your not very physically fit but can handle stress.
School bus driver. It looks good on a resume because
they have to go through a background check.

 

Be very careful lying about your work history with a trucking company! Trucking companies are bound by federal law to verify at least three years of employment. If you were to go to an orientation, and they found out that you lied on your application, you will get dismissed for falsifying your application. If the trucking company wanted to, they can put that on your DAC file. Whenever you apply with a company that would come up. My suggestion to you would be to tell the truth. If they want you, GREAT! If you are unable to get on, you may want to get a job driving straight truck or class B vehicles. Or talk to your local staffing agency, and maybe get a temp assignment. Just be VERY careful lying. Strangely, a lot of trucking companies wont try to verify your application UNTIL you come to orientation. (KLLM being one of those) Be honest man.
