I drove for swift for 4 years and left in 2004 then in 2007 I needed a job again and went back only to central refrigerated. When I went there I went with a trainer for a couple weeks unpaid then sat in the terminal for another 3 weeks and still never got paid. Then I finally had enough and went to them and said pay me or I am gone. They lit fire and found a truck and promised a check by the end of the day. Well I sat in it and discovered it to be a piece of junk that had so many problems I didn't dare leave the terminal with it. I gave up and walked out!

Here is the part that has me upset! I filed complaint with DAC because the forced me off the road by saying I abandoned a load. I won and it was removed ( I have the proof that I NEVER left the terminal or picked a load up ) Well somehow I found a good job at home and have stayed for 9 years because it took many months to get that crap off my DAC report.

Here I am 2016 laid off again and looking for work that I can keep and frankly Id like to drive again. My application has been shot down by 3 companies and I have a spotless driving record, no criminal anything, no medical issues and a good stable work history. My boss is one of my recommendations and a good friend so its not on this end. All I can think is that I am being bad mouthed even though hireright when I called said my dac is clean and when I received the mail copy it WAS clean. All it says is that Central Refrigerated employed me for 2 months and thats it.

To be clear I was paid only after I left and had been home for 3 months already. A check just showed up out of thin air...

My question is if my DAC is clean and it WAS corrected do companies change their records to match or do they keep spraying garbage based on the original files?

Lets face it I highly doubt they remember me or hold a grudge I was only there for a very short time and with the turnover rate well they see a million faces come and go....

Since you only had a couple of months with Central, you may have to apply to some of the companies that have refresher courses since your last solid employment in driving ended in 2007? Worst case, you may have to apply to some that have training programs or go back to school? Chinatown can fill you in on those if he knows your area.

Your time out of the truck is what's holding you back I'd assume.

Surely these companies are telling you why they're not interested? A refresher course might be your best bet to get back into a truck.

Hireright only reports 10yrs back correct? Ordered my report recently and it cuts off in 2006. Did you bother asking why your application was denied? Most companies xxx want 1-2years of otr/regional in the last 3-5

You might have that abandonment off DAC but it is not off the carrier records. It is frustrating to offer advice after the fact on these issues. First mistake is to walk off any job angry. Every carrier has a procedure for turning in a tractor. Take the time to calmly find out what it is and follow it to the letter. In general you should never make important decisions mad. I am 58 now and not a day goes by that I don't regret something I did in my 20s while angry. You may be right to be angry, nobody likes to get screwed over. But when you leave a carrier you are at their mercy when it comes to how they list you. I hope you do find a job and it is what you want.

I'd say it's because you haven't been driving.

    Thanks guys!

I am enrolled in a Cdl refresher course at A and B CDL INC. In Grand Rapids MI I was told to apply now and get things set for when I graduate class.

I was pre approved at one company but then they called last minute and said they where rejecting my app. No explanation. The others shot it down after a full review of my app.

I informed them I was quiting my DM basically told me I was a driver and had to sacrifice for a check. I pointed out that I hadn't gotten a check to sacrifice for... It got pretty heated until he walked off steamed. The way I saw it at the time was I had orientation, 2 weeks in a truck, and 3 weeks setting in the bunkhouse all unpaid That's almost 7 weeks and then a piece of junk truck. I hade a family to feed and don't regret for a minute leaving. I can't abandon a load if I never had one to begin with is my point to DAC services.

Anyways sorry not meaning to be rude that company really burned me bad!

Thank you guys for the responses I think I will call them on the hr side and ask maybe they can tell me why?
