Last year When I was working for Swift Transportation I had a ticket for parking on Los Angeles streets. . . . who is responsible to pay for this ticket the company or the driver?

Who told you to park on the street? That’s the person responsible.

Why would Swift be responsible for where you park? You pay the ticket because YOU received it not Swift

Did the City of Los Angeles send you the ticket in your name? Or did it go to Swift?

Parking tickets go to the owner of the vehicle. Of course, if the owner is your employer, they may deduct it from your pay.

When I was doing High Value Products for North American Van Lines, I was parked in a no parking zone in NYC one day for about 7 hrs. Every time one of the meter people came around they wrote another ticket. I called dispatch and they said to send them in. Part of the cost of doing business in the city. I think I ended up with 14 of those parking tickets.

Years ago I had to deliver to a very busy side street in Manhattan to a high rise luxury apartment building. There was a small half circle driveway but it wasn't level enough so the customer had me park in the only open spot available on the street.

I thought how lucky that there was a spot directly across from the job just big enough for my truck. After I was there for about an hour I finally realized when the bus stopped right next to my truck that the reason no one parked there was because it was a bus stop.

There was no where else for me to go so I figured what the hell. The meter maid came around a little bit after that and he looked directly at me sitting in the truck and just walked away so I figured if it was a problem he would have said something.

Lunch time rolled around and they were still working on unloading so I decided to walk around the corner to grab some lunch and I come back 20 minutes later and I had a ticket under my wiper. He must have been waiting for me to leave so he could give me that ticket.

It wasn't a big deal as my company would have just billed the customer for the ticket, but as luck would have it the meter maid put the license plate state as Massachusetts instead of Maryland. We got away with that one.

Well, since I've been with Swift, I've had 2 overweight tickets. I paid them without the expectation that Swift would or should pay them. I was the driver and didn't do what I should have (scaled and adjusted the load to be legal). So, it was on me. IDK, unless someone like your driver leader or similar, told you to park where you did, I have a hard time thinking why or how Swift should be responsible to pay this. Perhaps extenuating circumstances are involved, such as others have mentioned, having to illegally park for loading or unloading. Absent that, I don't see it as anything but you, the driver, being responsible. And, BTW, hours stuff doesn't excuse this. I KNOW there's no practical parking in that area. I pick up and deliver in that area commonly. If I don't have plenty of hours to get in, get unloaded (plan for 4 or 5 hours) and then get to parking, such as the Jurupa Valley terminal. I don't go until I have the hours. And, YES, working for Swift I have stopped short in Wheelers Ridge more than once, making the load late, and waited until my clock allowed me to complete it ALL before I headed into the whole Inland Empire/Los Angeles area. Never got any service fail or problem.

I’m guessing legally since you’re trying to shift the blame for you doing something that can produce a ticket who owns the plates is going to be responsible in the end
