I am under someone's MC and recently they have added Workers comp coverage which bumped up my premium considerably. I'm in texas and its not required in this state, however the costumer we haul for is requiring this. Is there a way for me to shop for my own insurance for workers comp maybe to save on my premium?

Absolutely, ooida sells occupational insurance and more than likely will cover your customers requirement. Call them and get the coverage details and then present it to your customer and explain the cost increase to haul their freight will have to change in order to meet their needs. I am sure they will consider it or find another sucker.

Don't buy sny insureance thru OOIDA they will charge you more than prives you can find on your own 10 to 15% higher rates.

I called OOIDA and they don't offer workers comp. They offer Occupational Accident coverage which may or may not be enough coverage.

If you are an O/O you can't get workers comp unless you are an employee of your company (and not 1099) it has to be occ acc ...... I am about 75% sure on that but I also believe it varies state to state
