Been slammed this week, we have rig moves everday since saturday and we are supposedly slammed for the next ten days. Thats why I moved out here, to bust my arse and make as money as posssible.
Alot of changes going on at work, guys getting fired and quitting, but I think for the most part the higher ups are tired of catering to slackers who can't show up to work, or try and dicatate what they will and won't do. If I ran a buisness and an employee tried to tell me "well I won't drive that certain make of truck" or I wont go here or there, I would tell them to clean there truck out. I hate whiners, and lazy people, and I think they have finally thinned the herd enough that most of those people are gone. -
Not a lot of politically correct Bravo Sierra in oilpatch is there. They don't ask that much. Like you said . Show up if you are supposed to. Do an honest days work. Be ready to work extra if they really need you. They are more than willing to pay you well for your inconvenience. Too many now days have an excuse for everything. Baby sneezed . Have to take whole day off to go to Dr. WTF? You're in the wrong place.HeWhoMustNotBeNamed and gdyupgal Thank this.

Big Duker says it like it is, as per usual.
To put a little finer point on it:
When you take a gig in the oil patch, you have to flip a big switch in your mind. You have to understand going in that you will be missing your kid's soccer games, you will be working 14 hours on your anniversary, and your family and friends might resent it.
Understand this going in, and make sure your family knows it as well.
Or take a job that allows better hometime.Big Duker Thanks this. -
runningman told me the other day that his boss said the guys from out of state are usually the best workers because they came a long way to WORK and i think thats true.
I told my new boss today that the last thing he'll hear from me is i want a day off. -
Ya thats the way it is at my work also, outta state guys came to WORK,seems the others are just looking for a regular paycheck doing as little as possible. They do get weeded out as time goes.

You are both correct. I have friends who's kids could clean up right now. Mid 20s. Healthy. None will even go down the road a couple miles and try. Spoiled rotten. They will learn. Most in TX have found employment fairly easily. Not that pays as well as long hrs in oilpatch. I wish I had listened to older folks when I was that age. Had chance to work in AK. Could have socked away couple hundred thousand and watched it grow all these yrs. But we all could have bought IBM, Apple, etc. When you get down to your last dollar it's amazing how hard work doesn't seem all that hard. And getting back on your feet in the best feeling in the world.
Well d amn close.
