    Alex,

I have thought about your kind words as they have inspired me to admit I learn things slower than other yet once I learn it it is there forever. My goal in life is to succeed in trucking and to insprie/help others. I have come through hell and back and am finally getting life in order. Do I regret my past? No as I have learned many things. My step-mom taught me one phrase about life; Live, Laugh and Love life. My biggest fans on the sideline are my family. It has not been easy but we have forged ahead. I always thought my dad was angry when I quit college but he was not because I finally made myself happy.

When I got my CDL, I was the happiest man alive on 31, Dec 2009. I defied the odds and accomplished something few people have ever gotten who have what I have. I even got my hazmat endorsement and defied the odds again.

No shame in that. The fact that you retain what you learn is priceless in itself. An awful lot of "quick learners" are also "fast forgetters."

Everyone has their own learning curve.

Thanks Big Don for your kind words. Very true on the last statement. I figure that they are in a hurry or do not take pride in their job. I'll never forget my dads advice; do not advance to quickly other wise you will fail. My boss will let me plan the routes as I need to know that for whoever I go with. Also, my goals on this trip are:

Learn to route using the most economical route (if there is cheaper fuel i'll change the route that goes by that city to save fuel money)
Learn to go down grades better
Learn to be more mechanically friendly
    Learn to be thicker skinned

What motivates me when there is my quest for happiness and succeeding. I told my parents I am happy most when I drive. If not, I become cranky as I get bored. When I first arrived in Richmond, we did not depart until the next evening. I sat at the truck stop watching trucks coming and going. I was still happy as I occupied the left seat. I have often changing my current dress code of nice t-shirt and pants to dress shirt and dress pants complete with Captain epaulets. I like to be professional and truck driving is my profession.

This just doesn't make sense to me. Why would you use a great job just to wait to go to a ##### job? I know you say it's temporary but if they like you like you say they might just find a permanent job for you. Why would you give up a true trucking job to go to a bottom feeder that might destroy your career?

If your going to sign on with someone to learn the trade,I feel your doing the right thing with an 0/0. We know the ropes usually been there and done that many times over and we take care of our equipment, its our home away from home. After 50+ years in this business, the last 35 as an 0/0, I give you credit for having the guts to try this out, its better than going to one of those school mills or with someone for 2 months on the road that knows less than you do. I hope to hear more from you and if you see an old white haired whited bearded man with the handle OLD MAN OF THE ROAD give me a shout.

No sir. Only if you want me to salute you I'll do it. :yes2557: Now my reason for new uniform is being professional. I like to dress like it. Not just a truck driver but a business man too.
