Zappa, I appreciate your willingness to share your experience with me regarding Tyson and I really enjoyed our telephone conversation today. Just to let you know, I accepted Tyson's job offer this afternoon and will begin orientation in Springdale, AR on July 21. Look forward to talking with you again in the near future.

Gotta admit... I didn't recall that there was a final. Sorry! I'm sure if you've completed 8 wks training then any final would be ez.

Another road test and I believe they have implemented a written exam as well. Circle of service, smith system are some things on exam and basic cdl questions such as stopping distance, weight adjustments. The weight of fuel per gallon is one I remember but work what you know and they help you with ones you don't know. They won't leave you out to dry.

    A few things to add.
Rider policy is now 16 not 13. Changed in Dec. insurance forced the change not tyson.
NO cell phone use...period while truck is in motion. Yes that includes Bluetooth.
Tyson does NOT charge detention pay.
    We have EZpass
but Ok and Ks are not covered. You do get reimbursed immediately upon releasing load to payroll.
Plant to plant loads take a backseat to plant to customer loads.
No out of pocket expense to unload.
You can split your check. I take $100/wk on a company provided prepaid visa. The rest goes into my checking account.
We use transflo to send load documents. The app is simple.
I got lucky. I drive a 2014 Prostar. There are only a handful of '14 Prostars in the fleet.
Tyson drivers only deliver about 40 loads a week to the west coast. The rest is by outside carriers.
Tyson drivers only haul 45% of all weekly loads. Outside carriers haul the rest. But in the event of an industry slowdown Tyson can pull up to 10% of those loads to give to company drivers.
Remember this...Tyson is not a trucking company. We are a food production company. Therefore loads take longer to process than at other companies. Yes there is a lot of hurry up and wait. This company is not for everyone. But I will say this...we are paid very well with great benefits and truly wonderful support staffs. I have a great dispatcher. Safety people are top notch. Road service is efficient and helpful. Our maintanence shops will try to get you back on the road ASAP. And our driver trainers will answer any question you have no matter how ridiculous you might think it is. Benefits are absolutely at the top of the industry.

    Just my 2 cents

Ur 100% wrong hair follicle testing goes back 3 months or longer. That's invasion of privacy it's none of a potential employer's business if u consumed cannabis 3 months prior to ur application. (Idk what drugs this guy asking the question might've used) but discrimination against cannabis users is wrong. Cannabis is not something to get messed up on like alcohol or pain pills?

You know best right. Newbies, if you smoked a joint 30 days ago it will still be in your system but you wont be high still. So why shouldn't he ask?
