Alright, so I have been approved by a few companies to start out with so I have a question.

Is it possible to maintain a work out schedule driving a truck over the road, regional, or dedicated? So if I bought like a Gold's Gym membership that allowed me to work out anywhere in the US at one of their gyms would I be able to get to one if the company allowed Bobtailing on off hours? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Well, depends on your workout schedule that you want to keep. If you plan on dropping your trailer all the time to go work out you may not find your trailer where you left it when you get back.

I cannot see it as being very convenient at all. You should not have that much time to go work out. If you do you are not driving hard enough. I've never really been laid over long enough or often enough to warrant the cost of such a membership.

You may be able to make it work. It depends a lot on the company you work for and what lanes you are traveling.

Get some hand weights and other small workout gear you can keep in your truck. Park farther away from the building at the truck stops. There are some threads on here in the Drivers Health section regarding working out, etc while on the road.

You are not going to have time to go to a gym.

Ok, but I thought as per DOT regulation a driver can only drive 11 hours a day? I do see the point about dropping the trailer though.

Gym membership IMO,- not very feasible. To many problems with that scheme.Best bet, when you know how much room you have in your truck bring the short bar & dumbbells along (or whatever)of your choice. In the 6 yrs I have been OTR,I have bought a gym day pass probably 5 times.

I had planned to take a couple pairs of dumbells with me in the truck in case I couldn't make a gym schedule, then an old timer said something about overloading the truck; however, it would be more than a small passenger. Something like a pair of 30 lbs and a pair of 50 lbs for assistance work. Thanks for the advice.

You may very well find,AFTER driving 11 hrs a day, your energy will be sapped..Not like from a good work-out,but tired just the same....And keep in mind,11 hrs driving,3 hrs with the other "stuff"= 14 hrs:biggrin_25518:

Ah, I hate gyms to be honest with you. I don't talk in the gym, I put on my head phones and work out. Mind you I'm not rude, I just stay to myself and rarely look in a mirror as I'm not a bodybuilder. I have built a gym at home with all the stuff I need from a real weight lifting type gym including Hammer Strength equipment and Olympic weights and bench's. I don't buy into those niffty lil work out gimmics they advertise on TV. I been into weight lifting too long to be fooled by those things. Man I'm going to miss my Gym LMAO! I've got a 405 bench and a 225 barbell curl without juice although I wish I could get the juice LOL! My fear is that I will loose power being on a truck, but such is life. Thanks for all the help.
