My name is Robert and I am a veteran of the US Army. No thanks to our fearless leader, I'm out of a job now and I am wanting to do some hotshotting. I already have the truck to do it with, but I lack the funds to get completely legal. Also, I will openly admit that I don't know all the current legalities and rules of the road, so I want to ask a question. I want to put me and my truck (o/o) under someone else's authority and pull loads for them or myself (if they're not giving me loads) and learn the ropes before going completely solo. Do you know, or have you ever heard, of someone doing this? Do you know of a hot shot trucking company that is looking to add drivers/trucks to their current fleet.

On a side note: I have a 12' Ram 3500 Western Hauler. I'm 28 with a clean record, no drugs, no alcohol, and have many years of experience. I'm located around Nashville, TN

Unfortunately there are no ACME terminals near me. I spoke with the closest terminal in Laurel, MS which is about 7 hours away from me. They said I could work for them; however, I would have to dead head a lot. Plus, I would need my own trailer, tarps, and some other things. Unfortunately, I've had to liquidate my flatbed in order to get by, so I'm going to need to work for a company that has trailers if that's possible. Thank you for the tip though. I very much appreciate it.

Is that truck even a CDL truck? Looks like a big pick up. If your looking for work on a big pick up I dont think you need authority since its not a CDL vehicle. (Although I'm not sure.) I know there's a few companies advertizing travel trailer transport that can be done with a pick up.

Hmm, I believe if you use a truck that size here in California for hauling loads for pay you may need a motor carrier #, a CA #, and a declared weight sticker. I see a bunch of those smaller, cabover Isuzu's (smaller or equal in size to your Dodge) with the numbers and stickers on them at the scales. Not too sure about TN, though.
