I'm planning to go community college for my Class A next month, but I'm worried about the amount of points on my NC car license. I have a total of seven, three for speeding that will expire in seven months and four for driving on the wrong side of the road (From an accident last December that was pretty much all my fault).
I'm worried that these are too much for getting a job or even the license. Should I wait until they go down? The school rep doesn't seem to have any problem with them, but of course he's biased. I don't have a criminal history of any sort if it makes a difference.
Any honest advice will be welcome.
Worried about # of points on my NC car license before I go to trucking school.

Wait for those points to clear off your MVR.

You can apply online with some companies, in hopes of getting a pre-hire. List yourself as student with a graduation date.

May be a hard road to start with, but give a couple companies a call and ask. Just be up-front and honest about it, better to find out before you go into debt or spend alot of time in school and not be able to work. Just do some research before you take the plunge.

most companies wont hire if you have more then one violation. In your case you have an accident, driving on the wrong side of the road, and speeding. They look at that as 3 incidents. They dont care about points as much as recency. What are the dates on these infractions. Most wont hire if more then 1 incident it the last 3 years. Some allow 2.

Even if you still attend the CC school, I would apply for company owned schools as well. If they accept you, they consider you hireable.
