It's really all over the board. I've arrived to the shipper, or the town of the shipper, days ahead of time. I've arrived within 15 minutes of my appointment. I understand your concern but this is just one of those things that you don't wanna loose any sleep over.
Communications with the dispatchers/FM's are very important. If you have a load and know that you'll be there two days ahead of schedule you want to call dispatch and see if there's something that can be done. A lot of times there is, especially if the trucking company has multiple terminals. This is a bridge best crossed once you get to it.
