It's really all over the board. I've arrived to the shipper, or the town of the shipper, days ahead of time. I've arrived within 15 minutes of my appointment. I understand your concern but this is just one of those things that you don't wanna loose any sleep over.

Communications with the dispatchers/FM's are very important. If you have a load and know that you'll be there two days ahead of schedule you want to call dispatch and see if there's something that can be done. A lot of times there is, especially if the trucking company has multiple terminals. This is a bridge best crossed once you get to it.

Lets just say this, I am at a shipper now. My load time is not till 7 in the morning.

When I trained, I used to tell all my trainees (I never called them students) to get to a stop as early as you can. Get your 10 hr break on the customer's property. If not on their property, as close as they can so they will have a full day the next day.

It really is not that hard. Every person starting out will be intimidated to an extent.

    Not to worry...
