Personally, without a doubt I would stay where you are! Your pay will be cut in half if you are an otr trucker. Plus you will have to shell out $6000 for school in hopes that you like trucking.

hey thanks for the info.. it's all really good. it's unreal that no matter all the "negative" stuff I hear about trucking I still wanna do it. makes my brain hurt. it's kinda like radio bizness tho. crazy hours crappy pay at first sometimes unrealiable and unstable.. but at least i sleep in my own bed at night. talked to a couple local trucking companies who tell me to get a year in otr then they'd hire for local or regional routes.. ideally thats where i'd wannaa be.. but like ya said, that first year otr is the worst.

HAHAHA I've been off for 3 weeks now, thinking about what to do instead of driving, as I thought I had enough. After 3 weeks at home, I can't stand it anymore, and called one of the past companies I worked for, and should be on the road with them in a week or so.

LMAO No, no. It's just that I hate being around people, so there's little else for me to do.

every job has it's frustrations doest it? If it aint one thing its another... This is one of the reasons i want a break from what i'm doin.. 15 years im just complainin about the frustations instead of enjoying it all the way.. sometimes ya need to walk away from something for a minute to remember how much ya love it,

Hello, after so many years I wonder if you're still making comments here but I found this thread coz I am In this exact situation at this point in my life. Im in IT make 85k/yr at a great company and I hate my job. I want to buy a box truck and hit the road. I enjoy driving, facts. But I'm just afraid to go forward and make this move. Did you leave your job? 2008 and 2021 and such different times but how did it work for you?? Thanks

The last time he was here was Aug. 30, 2008 so I doubt he'll see your post.

    Why a box truck?
