The bridge across the Columbia River at Hood River. Narrow lanes, expanded metal decking that's slick when it's wet, and always a strong direct crosswind.
-
Been over it twice on 18 and a few hundred times on 4...
Not a bad bridge at all. The weather can make it interesting during “season” — maybe moreso because of all the crap drivers the state has.x1Heavy and singlescrewshaker Thank this. -
I love the Skyway!! I live exactly 10 miles south to the summit. Probably been over it 1,000 times or so. They do shut it down frequently for wind. Fog always makes it fun too. Start climbing it early morning & next thing you know you're in the clouds. Lanes are nice & wide. The concrete surface is not polished I believe so I've always had good traction on it as well..
The old metal span was slick & scary from what I remember. (Just a lil tike in the backseat of ma & pa's grand marquis) After the freighter knocked down the southbound side in 1980 & it became a 2 lane head to head. That looked like a nightmare for trucks..x1Heavy and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Imagine being the this guy!! I'd be buying some lotto tickets...Dino soar, x1Heavy, FlaSwampRat and 2 others Thank this. -
I would too... after using the Jaws of Life to separate me from the seat.Lepton1, FlaSwampRat and singlescrewshaker Thank this.

That moment when your buttcheeks clench the seat so hard it ripples the floorpan of the car.Dino soar, Lepton1, slim shady and 1 other person Thank this.

when ever is see videos like this, i have a very strong feeling, that people just leave thier houses and drive away. never catching the local morning news/weather/traffic reports. or when they get into thier cars, blast the radio for music, rather than, news/weather/traffic reports.
when i was working, did i ever watch the local news but also the weather channels as well.
like an America Express travelers cheques commercial...
"i never left home with out it"...Lepton1, x1Heavy, singlescrewshaker and 1 other person Thank this. -
I got to where I can almost see this or that driver going to this or that. I try not to get into those videos too much. Im not a nut or a some kind of silly fortune teller. But certain drivers as a percentage are not fit for battle on ice or any situation. And you wonder why they slide so much.
The Doubles. I was afraid for him but I saw that he had been in ice possibly long before that river valley on the high sides of his trailers so he did it right even if the second wagon got a little loose on him.
I tell my boss I stay home on ice. You can too eh? So there is that.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Yeah, was wondering if anyone was going to mention that. I did get a little pucker when I used to cross the old Bridge of the Gods, down river at Cacade Locks with a full load,though.REO6205, x1Heavy and FlaSwampRat Thank this.
