Do you mean first started driving? or first got my CDL? LOL--to some of us CDL still kinda new--but since you asked--driving a VERY nice 359 when I traded my Class1 for a CDL
First started driving 1962 B76 Mack--and still IMHO--best looking truck I ever drove!LMAO -

'79 359 Peterbilt. 350 low-flow cooling Big Cam backed by a 15-speed and a set of rears that were far too fast (forget the last two gears). Only used locally, and at 60,000-lbs. she was pegging over 200-degrees within 3-miles of easy-throttle and flat-roads.

Early in my career I changed jobs often; but the two worst companies were equally horrible.
Midwestern Distributon, Ft. Scott, KS
Malone & Hyde food distribution.
These are the two worst companies that ever were. No power steering, spring ride trucks & trailers. Malone & Hyde had no air conditioning or radio and the suspension was so stiff could feel every crack or dent in the road.
The people in the office and owners were just as horrible as the trucks.
One reason Malone & Hyde was so terrible is that a couple of the top executives started their own truck leasing business on the side. They bought the cheapest trucks they could buy then leased them to Malone & Hyde for $500.00 weekly plus milage for each truck and they had a few hundred trucks. The trucks were so cheap even the defroster only defrosed the windshield on the drivers side. We complained and they said,"It's not important because the driver is the only person in the truck." Sounds like a BS story, but it's true.Lone Ranger 13 Thanks this. -
well the worst for me was my 1st company direct transit inc. in 96 i started in July and by Jan 97 swift bought them I found another company but they screwed me out of a lot of money I know I wasn't the only one. I guess by today standards my truck was bad 93 fld flat top in front stand up in back 9 speed no jake or power mirrors and windows...lol
