TQL is the masters of fishing and making a whole lot of money in this market. They call the strategy something else, I call it fishing. They are fishing for the biggest haul using the smallest bait. And they are not afraid to sit on loads for a very long time. TQL has postings on the loadboard that has been out there so long, it's begun to sprout roots and multiply, like a noxious weed. If you have a load on the loadboard for longer than a week, and it it's not grabbed, it means the market perceives you as too cheap. But TQL likes it that way, they are the king of cheap.
However, they have a plce in the market, I use them as a last resort to get out of some s##thole.
By now, most of you or your company must have had a call fro the TQL image spit'n polish team (513-831-2600 x 57000), asking why you are so very unhappy. Well, TQL here it is: YOU ARE THE KING OF CHEAP FREIGHT! -
My recent experience with TQL. Call on a load, agree on rate. Guy says will send me a confirmation in a min. In 20 min I email him saying that I know TQL bad reputation and if in 15 min I dont get the confirmation, I am booking a different load.
He calls me right back and apologises for delay, saying that he is not one of #### bags, bla bla bla. I get a confirmation in a couple min, but it does not have pick up and delivery address, only cities. I email him for this info and wait another 15 min. No reponce.
Opened up the load board and sure it is, my load is freshly posted there again!
I was about to call and curse him out, but just sent a simple nice email. Got all the info needed in a minute and his explanation that its probably something wrong with the site, cause he did not refresh anything, just forgot to remove it -
If you only get one email with an attachment from TQL you really do not have the load. There are no addresses with that first email. You ALWAYS must insist they send over the "load sheet" with the "rate con". That second email with an attachment is your "load sheet" that has addresses, means you have been dispatched, and you should be collecting TONU when it cancels at that point. Don't give them more than 5 minutes to send over both the rate con and the load sheet. There is no excuse or legitimate reason why they can't send both emails one after the other. No matter what the excuses insist they do it ASAP and tell them if you don't have it in 5 minutes you consider it that the load fell through and will move on to something else. If you just have the one email and 5 minutes later nothing else start looking for a new load. Don't let these people push you around and cost you money leaving you hanging with nothing to show for it. It's just business.

Mega Brokers are cutting rates left and right in each and every segment of our industry killing off the little Mom and Pop brokers and then in return cutting each other to the point that they only make $5 per load pushing a lot of paper. Some of these Mega-Brokers are actually bankers and real estate brokers that failed in their market and then choose to enter ours. They only care about one thing themselves, just look at their track record recently in 2008. They took their bailout money ran off and entered into an easier market for them to screw up, ours.
Here is an example of that, look at this company's gross income increases since around 2008. This company had a gross increase in revenue of over 200% from 2010 - 2014. Have any of you had that increase? I am not jealous of their success, more power to them, but here is the problem. When I first started pulling for them off and on in 2010 they actually had good rates, now their rates often times are bottom of cesspool. Their agents are not on the most part knowledgeable on how a trucking operation is ran. It reminds me very much of when I was a builder and broker agents and real estate agents had to schooled by me as to whether their customer could really afford to have me build them a house. You take a look and see if you agree with my observation, and please remember that this is just my opinion, but it sure looks the same to me.
