Most of those loads were from around where I lived. Some of them were when I was out on the road away from home. The point I made to Skateboard in an earlier post holds true on every single one of them. Granted he does live in a bad freight area on the east coast so can't kick back and dictate much of anything to anyone even if they do call. I mean I had a broker just a couple of weeks ago go up from $1600 to $3500. I told him $2500 because I thought he would shut up and hang up but he met it. So I balked and told him it would really suck getting a reload and he can surely find another truck at that number no problem so the guy goes up $500 I say no then another, $500 above that and I wavered. None of these people thought I was a jerk they just wanted a truck. Where you live Matt, you have the luxury - at different times throughout the year- to tell people what your rate is when you leave out. Don't be shy.

@mattvogelpohl listen to Rollin. It's not apples to oranges- kind of equipment is less important in negotiation than supply and demand. Read up on how to spot someone who is soft. Someone you can take advantage of.

I been hauling freight for them for the last few months. What I have learned is some of the freight is cheap and some of the freight Is On Target. When it's cheap I don't take it, I head back home and see if on the way there is any good Freight. Their mobile app works excellent and very easy to use. The process of getting paid is also simple and to the point. In the beginning I did notice that they use PC Miler because they seem to go around major cities from point A to point B, even though it might be a 50-mile radius of these major cities. Now when I ask for the load, I asked for the exact City and the miles in between. Again I don't take cheap Freight! I don't pull Freight for free. If we all stick together and have this attitude we will all be getting a Pay raise.

On the broker boards, we can see the pickup distance / delivery and I'll do the math before I call, so when I call, I know exactly where I can be at on the run. Saving them time on the phone as well as me.
When they say " it actually picks up at........." (tql in texas/oklahoma seems the worst about this) I now have to get all the information, check mileages/tolls routes while they wait on phone before accepting the rate or negotiating further. It just seems counter productive for them to do this for all parties.
Also, if it is a 1 pick 5 drops, why not list that in the load information rather than have to rework all the costs while on the phone as they give me zip to zip to zip to zip to zip information? I couldve worked that out before the call.
I suppose if they have success talking the guy into driving from charlotte to norfolk and paying his deadhead then so be it. I doubt anyone would make that drive without being paid deadhead when the load and their truck was listed in charlotte. But how many trucks do they miss out that are already in norfolk, but didn't call on the load because they thought it picked up in charlotte?
The situation came up just a couple days ago. The load said san antonio tx but actually picked up in houston. He gave me the rate, we negotiated the price and I agreed to the rate of run and then requested $$ for 194 miles deadhead (because load was listed wrong and I wasn't in houston) to which he declined and conversation ended. So 10 mins of his time and mine wasted because load listed in wrong city. For me, it was only 10 mins, but for him it has to happen all day long? -
TQL doesn't give a crap about anything posted on here. I'm sure the powers that be are like, F'um, business as usual.
