Just a fair warning. If the receiver complains about something with the freight, good luck you just hauled a load for free.

Forget about the rates at TQL. How about their reputation for filing false insurance claims and billing the carrier for charges?

I don't care if they called me and offered a load paying $20.00 per mile. If the receiver complains about damage even if it wasn't the truckers fault you can bet your insurance rates are going up next year for a claim. And the year after that.

They sent me a bill for $150 for being 1 hour late on a delivery that had no appointment time on the confirmation.
That was in 2013. I have not done business with them since

I believe it. They called me once after I made delivery talking about "You left oil all over the ground, My customer said you left oil on the ground"-he didn't ask me or even think if there could of been another explanation... which there was, another driver was there

I've only had minor problems with TQL and each time was resolved with me receiving more compensation or the amount that was owed to me. Of course each situation for each person is different... and a couple if times they did cancel the load (I'm sure because they found someone to do it cheaper, but, I didn't have the misfortune of arriving to the pick up before it was cancelled.) I've also cancelled the pick-up when I found a better load paying more for a shorter distance... lighter freight etc. So it cuts both ways. Just know when you're doing business no one cares about fairness but you! Jack the price way up, get it in writing and read the entire rate con.

...Just know when you're doing business no one cares about fairness but you!...

This sounds linguistically nice. Maybe Tony Soprano would agree to that too. LOL.
I just hope it is not true entirely. It can't be as bad. If that were everybody's motto, then we'd all be snakes living in a jungle. No one could trust anyone. Maybe because of some of the posts here, people would know that certain brokers are snakes and as such need to be handled, with distrust and caution.

I would never ever ever cancel on a broker no matter what came across that phone for any amount of money. It is just not in me. And my business is doing fine without doing that.

There is a culure of dishonesty and skewed ethics at TQL. It shows by how they negotiate and their tone when they speak to you. It's proven by this thread and the horror stories folks are sharing. Business is great for me as well, but, when I'm dealing with TQL I play hardball... because they are.

I could have told you this years ago. They are laying off their brokers now. Couldn’t be happier about it.

This post is almost 10 years old and TQL is the 2nd largest freight brokerage in North America. What is life?

It’s very profitable to not pay your carriers. I would be “successful” too if I was slimy enough to not pay my debts.
