Flat, no they dont generally shoot at you,but the land owner's can be very touchy about trucks leaving the lease roads. no promises on not getting blown up,lol things do happen in the oil feilds, need to very carefull about your sounding's it can be a very deadly place if your not.We call it stupid money for the reason the pay a stupid amount of it,the work is not hard but the days can be long you work weekends, holidays rain ,snow, sleet.

the hardest job in the oil field buy far is vaccum truck driver (if you are an actual worker) if lazy usually have a swamper my self could never sit by and watch someone work. the pay can be very good once expierenced. 40-60/hr..lots of companies pay 400/day staying in a camp or your own trailer on site..drilling rigs can be hard but almost every job is hard and dirty

I did the Chicago railyard gig, hit 17 railyards on the south side. Threw out the night driving through the ghettos , you will here and see shootings . Had the truck hit by stray lead , the 80-100 angry mobs that do thrill kills will keep ya awake at 3 am. In the summer time though out the night, if your a man of action or want to see action just roll threw the s.side ghettos. To the op if you want the dirtyest job, there,s still competion. If you excell in math, you can be the guy that sets the cordence- profile that the driller follows to hit the oil. I worked on a big horizontal rig 89-98, our steer man made 5k a day in 1995. A dirty job- lifting 200 lbs plus 12-24 hrs a day, equills major injuries. Everybody leaves all messed up, trust me on this one.

I figure I will only be able to this for a few years so I want to make as much money as I can. Found a vacuum company that hires newbies. I am good at math so I will have to look into drilling too. Work makes me happy. I know I ain't right in the head. I guess that is why I like it when someone calls me a redneck. I know all to well about staying on the roads with your truck. I have pulled cattle trailers out and worked around farm land. They aren't real nice when you mess up their land. I also catch hogs and they love me for that because the hogs mess up the land. Anything that messes up the land the land owners want dead. So keep your truck and trailer on the road or they want you dead too. Bring some dirt and fill in your ruts when you mess up. Most land owners will appreciate the act and go a long way to earning you some respect. I even fix fences I did not cut or break. I am from Texas and I understand how they think. You want to know dirty, stinky, and scary then go grab ahold of a wild boar in a waller with nothing but some rope and a knife. If you are worried about getting dirty or how you are going to smell you will end up cut up or dead. I have done that just for fun so this oilfield work is just right for me. I already come home covered in mud, blood, sweat, and smelling like a skunk a few nights a week. My wife will be happy I don't smell as bad coming home from work.:biggrin_25525:

Doing cement is a little more dirty than frac sand. You guys do dont have a dust sock to worry about and all. And our fittings thread on and you beat em on with a sledge after you brushed them with the wire brush and oiled them. Not them ##### cam lock type of deals. Little more tricky than sand to unload too. No top air at all. It has to be fluffed up before it will go down n out
