I get what you are saying and i agree for the most part. But i disagree on one particular thing. What the guy next to you does, directly impact you.

If it's a driver tossing out garbage in a parking lot it gets us all banned so now we can't stop and restock the groceries at walmart or kroger.

Or maybe it's another carrier servicing the same customer that does that 700 mile run overnight by falsifying his log. Now that customer won't be willing to pay you for the day and a half or so the run legally takes.

I will take it one step further than @ Pedigreed Bulldog. How many of ALL those cheering for elogs will still be cheering when their cheat methods are discovered and then eliminated?

I agree with that. Thing is their is always gonna be the guy to haul it cheaper false log or not. They never last long m I read miles too cheap is still a disaster waiting to happen with out having a volume of trucks. However before one is completely dead 2 more are in line to take his place. That will continue with ELD'S. I do see your point on raising rates and I agree with it. Their just needs to be more in that camp regardless of what the keep RODS on.

Cheating in what way? Delivering a load at 14.5 hours into the day and then having to drive another say 1/2 hour to a truck stop to park? You guys have not been out here like many of us old guys have. This is not an industry that fits in your tidy little box. Thank God I work for a carrier that has told me if I go over my 14 doing assigned work, that I will not be punished for doing my job. Or finding a safe place to park.

^^^^^ You have no idea how long I have been out here. The cheaters are on here all the time proclaiming their stupidity. You yourself have admitted to being willing to cheat. 14 hours is 14 hours. I'm out.

If i show up to the job site before the 14 is up it is perfectly legal for me to make the delivery (on duty not driving) then drive to a safe parking location after the last piece comes off the deck. That has nothing to do with cheating, paoer or elog the hos regs are the same.

Who said you can't? You gotta abide by the same HOS regs as every other driver, company or O/O. That's it.

Pilots gotta abide by HOS, whether they are flying for a major airline or popping around in their private plane. If private trains where a thing, the engineers would have to abide by their HOS regs.

Admit it. The biggest issue y'all are having is the fact that you can't hide or adjust the violations y'all would get. And ya know what? They ain't that big a blasted deal! I've blown my log, repeatedly. Due to shipper delays, weather, parking issues, traffic, accidents, whatever. Make a note (just like you would on paper if y'all weren't adjusting to hide the time) and continue on with your day.

And if that is just too much effort, than I give up. Y'all should have been screaming and fighting when the HOS was changed back in the early '00s. Ya didn't because ya could just hide the violations. And THAT is where y'all lost.

Logging time on line 1 or 2 which "by the book" ought to be logged on line 4 is cheating. Telling the truck you're not on line 3 anymore while stopped at a traffic light, train, traffic jam, etc... is cheating. Creeping around below the trigger speed to delay the start of your day or to prolong a break is cheating.

Just because the box "allows" them to do something does NOT mean it is "legal" for them to do so. They are still cheating on their logs in order to "save hours". Why are they "saving" their hours? Because they want to work past the 14th or 70th hour without appearing to be in violation, or they don't want to take a full 30, 10, or 34.

I haven't worked 14 hours in two years except on my house. Its about being told I have to have it. If we allow this it would be like saying you can only buy a Chevy, that's white. Or as a driver you can only have certain extended shifter, or cowboy boots, or chrome lug nut covers. It adds no safety or revenue to my bottom line. That's why I can't justify this POS. You don't get it yet. Lets make a law that you can only paint your house trailer a certain color and then you will complain. You probably love the proposed tax credit idea. Cost of goods are rising and a 2500.00 tax credit will not cover it. We the lower, middle class will be the losers in the end if we don't put are foot down some time.
