Long story short
I have a live load that requires two straps. It delivers at a place that is drop and hook. I was wondering what should I do if they deny my request to get my straps at the receiver. Should I just drop the trailer in the spot, break the seal then get my straps and act like nothing happened? They're nice straps too. Brand new
Would I be a mad man to break into a trailer I dropped to get my straps back?

Anybody there when you drop? If so, mayby ask someone to come out with you to get them, and note the reseal on bol? Will your company reimburse you for straps? Wishful thinking, don't hurt to ask. I pull containers and when they ask for straps, i don't have any..sorry. Then all of a sudden they come up with theirs. If i ain't live unloading it, not sending mine to wherever.

After they sign the BOL, yes.

I’m not saying to but.
If you’d break the seal and grab your straps and then put another seal in the trailer, odds are the yard jockey won’t check the seal against the seal on the bol.
Unless it’s dog food. The dog food places are really picky about seals.FlaSwampRat and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
U could just buy new ones.. Im guessing they are the 2 inch e track straps or i was gonna say u could just buy some from a flatbedder. It sucks leaving equipment behind .if it were me id break the seal and get the straps. Sometimes its better to ask forgiveness than to ask for permission, especially with the odds on that question to retrieve ur straps will be a big hard NO.

Talk to your travel agent BEFORE you drop. If the trailer is supposed to be delivered sealed, don’t break the seal. It should be no problem for them to reimburse you. If they don’t, next time you run the load without straps.

Are they company provided? Sounds like they aren't by how upset you are about this but if they are just swing by a terminal and pick up a couple more.

Next pickup, ask if they have some straps. A lot of places have a tack of load bars and straps others have left.

I am forever adding straps to loads I pull, all drop and hook. I can take them back off no problem, but forget at times, and just don't feel like dealing with them when it is 40 below and a howling wind at times. I just drop by the strap box at their terminal and replenish them at times. I have never ask them, but they have never said anything either.
FlaSwampRat and NavigatorWife Thank this.
