I think your right, They realy don't want someone to bring a pet, But charging the five hundred is wrong, It should be a deposit, But maybe the driver turn over rate is so high, That the deposit system doesn't work.. in my opinune, They USX/Total isn't much of a company anyway. For someone just getting into trucking thats a good place to get experence.

From my experience of USX, the 500 bucks is just a deposit. If you quit, they can, and do, althou not legally, withhold your last paychecks to cover any damages you left in/on the truck.

    lv gn Thanks this.

Well, I must say, after T/A wanting $2500.00 for a pet $500 is affordable. Heck, England has a list of states that don't allow certain dogs. Yep, right, the bigie is a Pit Bull, and I think it stinks! i HAVE HAD 2 AND THEY ARE THE MOST LOVING AND LOYAL A DOG AS i HAVE EVER HAD, WITH THE EXCEPTION MAYBE OF MY 2 RETIRED GREYHOUNDS.

In any case, this could be a big issue on the front burner, but I want to know what the company is like. I need a job, don't need to be anywhere special to go home, and with the economy, any job is a good job.

    Any info???
So the Mini Schnauzer is what actually cheated you out of your money...Be fair. Don't blame a want/need on what you lose for pay. As I said T/A wants $2500 for a pet deposit. More and more drivers are irresponsible with their pets. It is them you need to focus on, not the deposit.
I have always had a dog, and never one deposit, except back then they didn't need them. Most drivers took care of their dog as if it was gold. Heck, my dog was my life, and partner. And, who can live in a stinky truck????
    Thanks!

GO BACK AND READ THE POST AGAIN,You missed the point.. its not the Five hundred dollar deposit that was the problem.. They keep your five hundred dollars,Regardless if there's damage... Thanks for your thoughts on this subject..

I didnt mind paying the 500 for my Chihuahua. I was with USX for 4 years and I understand why they charge the money. The last truck I had made me Gag when I got it, it was soaked in cat urine. It doesnt come out! They had to replace the volvo seat cushions in the back, and the carpet. The top bunk was scratched and stained with urine. They finally gave me another truck, it was that bad. I always kept my truck imaculate, my small dog was very good about potty issues. I just wish they would charge a deposit on smokers, I have invested in air fresheners. LOL. Does Total have electronic logs? I left USX just before I had to get on. thanx
