Would you agree that Trucking, despite being a tough job, is actually very underrated and rewarding

I’m veteran and have a bachelors degree. Worked construction as a heavy equipment operator making 75k a year. Never used my degree. I took the plunge in starting my own local trucking gig. Making tons of money. Depends on what type of trucking you choose to do for it to be rewarding in any aspect. I can’t see any Over the road type of trucking for big companies being rewarding at all as far as money goes. Maybe it’s rewarding if you really want to be away from everything and everyone. I can
    lmao

I think you're right in everything in your post.
I don't understand a driver that's making $65K or $70K per year telling a new driver that trucking is so horrible. It's a great career! Also, it's voluntary to be a trucker. If it's really so bad, even when you have a family, why did so many of us stick with it and have a very nice middle class lifestyle for our family.
Sure, there's many drivers that have been out here for years and are still at the lower end of the pay scale
and living in less than desirable conditions, but that's due to either some devastating event occurring in their life they had no control over or they just don't have the motivation to do any better.

Let me see. I’ve paid off a Harley I bought brand new. Bought a house on my own. Nothing fancy a older home. Just paid off my 2016 Ford Mustang GT. Nope trucking isn’t rewarding.

Now I think it’s comes down to which direction you go. Could I have done this working for a mega carrier? Probably not. Some might if they had no bills. But realistically you have to be with a company that pays decent and woks you. You can make 65k-70k+ anywhere in this industry local or OTR. Which 65k+ is a lot of money. I never thought I’d make that much coming from a normal job to trucking.

I find it to be fun for me personally and don’t think it’s hard work at all. Even on flatbed, the hardest thing I do is flip an 8 foot tarp down my trailer or something. Wouldn’t call that work. Driving #### sure isn’t work. I’m vastly overpaid for what I do. Not sure why everyone says don’t do it. I couldn’t give less of a #### about whether I’m respected at my job. I’m doing what I like to do and I don’t really care how people feel about me doing it.

Truck driving is kind of like my marriage. I've been married almost 30 years, and 5 of them were the best of my life. :(
