Yes this is very rewarding.
Don’t have to spend all day long trying to work with a bunch of grubby little demons. All they do is fight. Make themselves look good. Do everything they can to destroy you. I won’t join them on their road to hell.
The most intelligent people avoid the masses of destroyers. One example is custodial business owners. To work at night with nobody around.
I’ve done my share of complaining. Have loved the basis of my job. Now I’ve voiced my problems to my boss. Appears he’s taken care of it. I’m at another terminal that needs help badly. Hopefully will keep working out of both terminals and keep running. Am setting myself up to work recaps. They need constant here. I have plenty of time to deliver. Finally starting to work as the job I accepted for the most part.
I’m loving my job. Enjoy seeing the little things. I’ve seen the big already. I enjoy the peace and quiet of being alone. Just the company of an intelligent life form. Like driving around the country. The country is seeming much smaller than it used to be. In just a few days, I’m from the east to west coast. My terminals are in the middle. I’m free to stop and look at that roadside point of interest, historical, or geological site. Not at all trapped in the truck. Run days, unless I feel like night. Got plenty of money coming in to take care of everything.
Yes... trucking is my reward... I should have done this 35 years ago.
Edit: I spent my childhood, sitting and waiting. Sit and wait for dinner. Sit and wait for this, that and everything. I hated it. Now I sit and make money.
I used to work making what an O/O makes. Out of town. Expenses paid. Very demanding on time. Often out in the boonies somewhere, 12 hours a day. Very dangerous. Much stress. Big money on the line. Now...I relax and have everything with me. I enjoy this life.
Would you agree that Trucking, despite being a tough job, is actually very underrated and rewarding

But after months and months on the road, the house is starting to become more like a truck stop that has lot of amenities. Unfortunately it has chores as well.MBAngel, kemosabi49, bryan21384 and 3 others Thank this. -

I also have said for years even if you're running local, it's still pretty all consuming. You just have a bigger sleeper is all.
I worked so many hours doing local at one place, if I didn't need to go home, I probably would have just put a fifth wheel in the yard and lived there.WesternPlains and Mattflat362 Thank this. -

One of the better paying lines of work for those of us who have had repeated trouble with any, one particular academic subject. Gives you some time to think about how you're going to accomplish other goals without cardiac'ing yourself in the process. You really sit back and think about how good you have it when you listen to the poor schlub behind the counter talking about that second or third minimum wage job they have to run to just to pay the rent.
a-trucker123 and homeskillet Thank this. -
You have a much lesser chance of bludgeoning one of your Co workers to death for being a lazy moron as well.
Most of the mega's have their morons behind plexiglass and metal detectors. While this won't stop a good bludgeoning, it gives you pause going through all that security. -
